AT BAREFIELD’S

We care more about the relationship than the sale. We help every member of the family look and feel their best — for the everyday and the once-in-a-lifetime — so the clothing is one less thing you have to think about.

Every Piece on Our Racks

Each item on our racks is chosen for the years it will serve you, not the season it was made in — good wool, real buttons, construction that holds up to wear instead of falling apart after it.

And because a good fit finishes what good fabric starts, we'll take your measurements ourselves and send every piece out to be tailored right — quick turnaround, no extra charge for the seams that matter, whether it's a first sport coat or a wedding party of six.

Come in, take your time, and let us get the details right.

In 1985, Mike Barefield opened a store in Ozark, Alabama, on a simple idea — that customers deserve to be treated like neighbors, not transactions. For decades, Barefield's earned its name not just on the clothes it sold, but on knowing every customer: helping a young man buy his first suit, standing with a groom before his wedding, outfitting a professional for the career he was building. Quality and character never went out of style. Four decades later, that idea still holds.

John and Heather Seifert carry it forward in Madison. John is no stranger to Barefield's himself — a native of Ozark, Alabama, he's shopped these racks since 1986, and considered Mike Barefield something of a father figure long before he ever imagined carrying the name forward. Heather spent more than twenty years teaching in Madison City Schools. John built a career in engineering and public service, coached youth sports, led at church, and served nearly a decade on the Madison City Council. Long before they ever opened these doors, they were already part of this town — raising a family here, volunteering here, building the kind of relationships that don't come from a transaction.

OUR OWN SMALL PIECE OF THE AMERICAN STORY

“WE DIDN'T SET OUT TO REINVENT BAREFIELDS."

We set out to preserve what made it special, and bring it to a new generation — menswear, women's, and boys' clothing, built the same way the name always was: on relationships, not just racks.
